Planting Trees in the Tremé = Treemé

Ninth Ward Nursery joined up with the organizers of Treemé, a new nonprofit dedicated to beautifying the Tremé neighborhood of New Orleans. Tremé is one of the city's oldest neighborhoods, and the oldest continuously inhabited African American district in the nation. It's rich in history, and we're doing our part to make it look its best.

The plan is to eventually plant 300 trees along curbs throughout the neighborhood. Streetscaping with trees (crape myrtles in this case) offers shade, increases home values and generates good vibes within the community overall. It's nice to be part of this ambitious project.
