Ninth Ward Nursery is currently hiring for a part-time (20 hours/week) project manager position.

We offer competitive pay, performance-based annual bonuses and the potential for full-time work over the coming months. Hours are flexible and we offer a generous time-off policy.

The ideal employee will have experience in horticulture or a related field, plus small-scale construction and sales experience, with minimal supervision. This is not an entry level position.

Pay starts at $17/hour.

Responsibilities include:

• Propagating and maintaining the health of bamboo (our primary product) and tropical plants throughout the week

• Supervising a small crew of 1-4 employees

• Conducting retail sales on Saturdays (4-hour shifts from either 9am-1pm or 1pm-5pm)

• Assisting in ongoing improvement projects at the nursery — the business is growing and we need a lot of help before our busy sales season next spring

Job Requirements:

• Reliable transportation, valid drivers license and ability to lift 40lbs regularly

• Basic knowledge of power tools — we have some infrastructure improvements that require some handyman/construction experience

• Customer service experience. In addition to our expertise in all things bamboo, Ninth Ward Nursery’s staff has a hard earned reputation for hyper-attentive customer service.
